Who was she?
Vivian Maier was a Nanny, who secretly took photographs without anyone else knowing. Her photographs where discovered when she passed away, and someone brought them when her belonging where on sale. Maier was a street photographer who took photographs in her spare time and kept all of her photos locked up in the room she stayed in. Vivian Maier often took pictures on the street of people, as well as including self-portraits of herself. The photographer took close up photos of people which convey different feelings and backgrounds behind the picture. As she kept her work a secret, may show that she didn't want anybody to see her work. Considering this, people may get their own idea on what her work is about, rather than the photographer being able to tell people herself. Knowing this, many people may have different ideas to what her work is really about, it allows people to look at her work and figure it out for themselves. Since her work has been discovered, photographers have admired her style of her work and many are still trying to discover the story behind her work.
What do I like about her work?
I like Vivian maier's work, as in most of her photographs, she has got close to people when taking photographs, which allows you to see the expression on someones face clearly, as well as their surroundings. This has inspired me to do some street photography in the style of her work.
